We will arrange to have a copy of all previous medical records concerning your pet’s skin disease faxed to Dr. Codner prior to your appointment.  Your veterinarian’s medical notes covering the onset of the skin disease, laboratory results and doses of prescribed medications are particularly important.  In addition, you should bring the ingredient labels from all foods recently fed to your pet.

Please arrive 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled appointment time to fill out the necessary client registration form and dermatology history form or you may bring the completed forms to your appointment. You can download the forms here:

  • Client Registration form: (DOC) (PDF)
  • Dermatology History form: (DOC) (PDF)

The initial examination usually lasts 1½ to 2 hours and may include several diagnostic procedures.  Please do not bathe your pet prior to your appointment, so that we may fully evaluate the skin condition.

At the conclusion of your appointment, you will be provided with a written report regarding diagnostic findings and treatment recommendations.  A copy of the medical report will be faxed to your primary care veterinarian.  Dr. Codner also provides you with an after hours contact number should any unforeseen questions or problems arise that need her attention.

Most skin diseases can be cured or successfully managed.  Skin diseases that have been getting progressively worse over several years will not be cured overnight, but often require several months of therapy.  Periodic rechecks may be required to assess response to therapy and make appropriate changes in the treatment program.

Dr. Codner and the staff at Animal Dermatology Specialists understand the special bond between owners and their pets. The staff is chosen for their compassion and respect for animals.  It is our goal to provide the highest level of veterinary care for our patients.  We are passionate about the specialized care and treatment that our clinic offers its most challenging cases.
